Nelson Correa, Ph.D.

FOUNDER & CEO

Nelson is an entrepreneur and computational linguist with 30 years of experience in natural language processing, machine learning and software development. He brings strategy, technology expertise and industry knowledge to Andinum. 

Prior to Andinum, Nelson was data architect and data scientist at Bank of America, Chief Data Science Office, Charlotte, North Carolina; postdoctoral researcher, visiting scientist and senior software engineer at IBM Research, Yorktown Heights, New York; patent examiner at the USPTO, Alexandria, Virginia; and professor and chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Universidad de los Andes, in Bogotá, Colombia. He also held senior technical executive roles at two VC-funded startups in New York.

Nelson holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University,  Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from Syracuse University, and a Bachelors in Electronics from Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. He holds three U.S. patents, has over thirty technical publications, and is fluent in English and Spanish, and proficient in German.

VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Antonio is Vice-President for Business Development and Chief Revenue Officer at Andinum. He has more than 25 years of experience in the IT and Telecommunications industry, and is passionate about technology evolution and the business opportunities it brings to industry and society at large.  

Antonio started in technical roles with a local telecommunications provider in Colombia, and moved to the vendor side with international experience at Nortel Networks, Alcatel-Lucent (now NOKIA), Tekelec/Oracle, and Mavenir.  Antonio is happy to contribute to industry and regional market growth, promoting open interfaces, innovation and automation of telecommunication services, which today are required in multiple industries.

Antonio has an MBA degree from Universidad de los Andes, a degree in Electronics from Universidad Javeriana, in Bogotá, Colombia, and additional studies in Telecommunications from The George Washington University in Washington D.C. He is fluent in English and Spanish. 

Wlodek Zadrozny, Ph.D.

ADVISOR

Wlodek Zadrozny is scientific and business Advisor at Andinum, Inc. He brings deep industry experience and serves as business advisor and consultant on projects in areas ranging from text mining, question answering and deep learning to intellectual property and patents.

His research focuses on natural language understanding and its applications to business. His recent work spans from applications of concept embeddings and topological data analysis to text analysis and intelligent information retrieval. 

At IBM Research, from 2008 to 2013, Dr. Zadrozny was responsible for textual resources in the IBM Watson project, the Jeopardy! playing machine.  For his work he received, together with the Watson team, the 2013 AAAI Feigenbaum Prize. 

Dr. Zadrozny is currently Professor of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, which he joined in 2013 after his 27 year career at IBM. Dr. Zadrozny published about a hundred refereed papers on various aspects of text processing and sixty patents. He received a Ph.D. in Mathematics with distinction from the Polish Academy of Science.
